Conscious sedation as the name implies means bringing a person to a relaxed state while they are still conscious. This means a person is responsive and can understand and follow instructions while they are mildly sleepy and in a nice relaxed state. This takes away the fear of procedure and instruments and a patient can get treatment done comfortably.
A person can be sedated via
1. Oral Sedation- A tablet of an anxiety relieving drug is given before the procedure. This can be done for mildly anxious patients, however dose of the drug can’t be increased or decreased as per the situation.
