Cavities in teeth cause toothache, swelling, loss of teeth, inability to eat, food lodgement in teeth, bad breath and are very unsightly. These are the ways you can prevent cavities in teeth-

  • Brush twice daily with a fluoridated toothpaste for two minutes

  • Floss at least once a day

  • Eat nutritious fibre-rich food

  • Drink sufficient amount of water

  • Dont snack frequently

  • Limit consumption of processed food, sugar and acidic drinks

  • Breathe through nose not through your mouth (causes dry mouth which increases cavities in teeth)

  • Rinse mouth after eating

  • Consider application of fluoride varnish if you are prone to cavities

  • Visit your dentist ever six months
